Commitment and Events:
There is no necessity to commit to all the units events but it is expected that when members commit to an event or specific job they turn up and/or carry out that job. If you have committed to an event or job and the situation changes, members must let us know as soon as possible and not leave it to the last minute.
Where the event demands, members will be required to act as part of a unit and will come under a military organisation. Members will be asked to join in with an established structure or grouping as appropriate for the event. Which unit may change from event to event but the 43 currently works as part of the Napoleonic Association, Crown & Empire and The Big Battalions.
The Unit Commander or another duly appointed responsible person will be responsible for accrediting, or checking the accreditation of members.
The units events will be divided in to three categories. Flag , Unit , Training.
Opportunity events are those attended by members at their risk and outside the responsibility of the 43rd
Unit or Flag events: each year a number of events will be designated unit events and all members are encouraged to attend these events. Often these will be the larger and more interesting of the events.
(Flag: The regiments colours will be present , so members should make the maximum effort to attend)
Training Events: Where possible the unit will organise training events in addition to the Unit/Flag events. just for the members to drill and practice. Every effort to attend should be made, as training and practice are key to making the other events work.
Opportunity Events: the growing number of events means you can attend events every weekend of the year, if you are so minded and if real life allows! The unit will publish on it's event list as many events as it can and we welcome any information on other events.
Members can of course attend these events if they do not clash with a Unit or Flag event
Although attendance will be the responsibility of the individual. No liability will be transferred or implied by the attendance of a 43rd member to an opportunity event.
However members attending opportunity events under their own responsibility are expected to maintain the highest standards of safety required by the 43rd, the Napoleonic Association and Crown & Empire organizing the event.
Reporting: All officers,NCO's and General members attending opportunity events are to report any safety or discipline concerns to the unit commander as soon as possible in writing or by email or via the contact us page on this website.
Any Opportunity event can be promoted to a Unit or Flag event. if the unit feels the benefits of the event are deemed suitable.
Members should send details in writing to the unit commander out lining the opportunity events details and any potential clash with a unit, Flag or training event.
We are constantly looking to provide events that our members will enjoy. We all have a wide range of interests within our membership, so we cannot guarantee that every event will suit everybody, but the intention is that there should be something for everybody in our calendar. So please feel free to let us know of any events you think are worth attending

Experience is everything and the more Unit /Flag or training events you can attend the better.
The unit operates a system whereby a local NCO or Officer can organise, recruit and drill new members, who then join together to display at the Unit/Flag events.
Promotion will be on the basis of experience, attendance and organisational skills.
Recruiting additional members and actively helping in drill and kitting out will certainly not count against any members who would like to progress in the regiment.
Officers and NCO's are to notify the unit commander by email or via the contact us page on this website of any planned drill or training sessions in advance. They should also report the attendance and areas covered by attendee's
For example : Private Smith attended, Musket drill, Foot drill, Light

Most are by email, although we will occasionally need to post things. Therefore it is most important that you keep us informed of any changes to contact details especially email addresses
Members Safety & Liability:
Members are responsible and liable for their own safety at events and complying with the appropriate safety requirements and accreditations required by the events management. Members must comply with the safety and accreditation requirements of the Napoleonic Association, Crown & Empire and The Big Battalions.
Members are expected to update and maintain the contact information and details and inform the unit of any changes as soon as possible. For example a new email address or user name, a change in a license reference number or expiry/withdrawal of a license.
When you enroll in the 43rd we ask for some information about you. This statement explains how we look after that information and what we do with it.
We have a legal duty in the UK under the Data Protection Act to prevent your information falling into the wrong hands. We must also ensure that the data we hold is accurate, adequate, relevant and not excessive.
The only information we hold comes directly from you. Whenever we collect information from you, we will make it clear what the information is required for. You do not have to provide us with any additional information unless you choose to. We store your information securely in our (paper based) membership records system. We restrict access to those who have a need to know, and our officers are made aware of need to handle the information securely.
Most of our contact with members will be by email. We will pass your contact details to members of the management team, so that they can let you know what activities are available or confirm details with you direct. If you are part of another group or association such as the Napoleonic Association, Crown & Empire for example, they will also hold information about you. The 43 can take no responsibility for the security of this information.
